I've been waiting to write my review of the Zing Toys Z-Curve Bow and Zing-Shot Launcher because I was waiting for the opportunity to play with and test them. Since they are a bow and arrow and a slingshot, the optimal place would be an outdoor space. However, I live near Cincinnati and lately, we aren't exactly know for nice, non-rainy weather.
So instead I let my inner child kids play with them in the basement. These toys are a lot lot LOT of fun. In case you've never seen them, they look like this:
Z-Curve Bow
The last time I fired a bow and arrow I was about 11 and I was at Camp Swayloken Camp Fire camp. I was a bit unsure how to hold the bow. Once I stared at the picture on the box for a few minutes, it was (literally) smooth sailing. I'm pretty sure I need another one of these because I really really don't want to share it with my kids. It's easy to use, easy to load and awhole lot of fun. Our favorite was the arrow (one of three that was included) that has a suction cup on the end. We made it stick to the wall and the kids thought that was just about the coolest thing they had ever seen. The arrows are made of SOFTEK foam so you can feel good about letting your kids play with them. They can fly up to 125 feet. (Ages 8 and up. Arrows should never be aimed at faces, eyes or people or animals.)
Zing-Shot Launcher
The second toy I got to play with was the Zing-Shot Launcher, essentially a slingshot. This one wasn't as user friendly (at least for me, though Thor figured it out eventually). When I did get the ball loaded and positioned to fire correctly, it did fly fairly far. This can launch one SOFTEX foam ball up to 45 feet. It is a bit more complicated but still a lot of fun.
If you are looking for some fun outdoor entertainment this weekend, pick up a Zing Toy at your local retailer. And be on the lookout because you never know when I might be taking aim.
I was provided with one Z-Curve Bow and one Zing-Shot Launcher in order to complete my review. The opinion expressed is solely my own.
